Re: Factory odd ball trucks

Mine is extremely rare. Maybe ten of them in the world. I dont know how many of those are left. In 84 only %12 of K10's were 6.2 diesel. So take that number and think how many were shortbed. Mine is a shortbed. Plus, mine has EVERY option except the spare tire. Its is fully friggin loaded. Unfortunately I dont have the money to restore it to original, so Im going to make it a DD offroad machine.

I really hate to break it to you, but there's a guy in this thread with an 'extremely rare' diesel K10 swb...and there's 10 of them over on diesel page...don't get me wrong, it looks nice, but it's not rare at all actually...

Re: Factory odd ball trucks

I think they're all oddballs -

Back then you could order pretty much whatever you wanted; like our '82 2wd swb Diesel.

I've been told mine is odd (by some of you all) but I never thought about it, since I ordered it myself:

'87, V6, 4 speed manual overdrive, 3.73 posi axle; cruise, bedmount spare, vinyl floor mat and seat, tach cluster, manual windows and locks, air, Scottsdale trim level, just to name a few.

I think we've decided that's the trans flawildman was refering to. My inquiry was my gentle way of saying there was no five speed available that year.

The four speed is the MY6, aka the New Process A-883 trans, which is the trans I ordered in my truck:

3rd gear is 1:1 and 4th gear is .73:1.

That is an excellent chart, btw. I've been looking for one like that; Thanks for posting it.
