Universal Alum radiators
EDIT: Atten mods, maybe I should have posted this in the 67-72 forum? If it will get more attention there, can it be moved? thanks
Ok, instead of stealing the copper/alum radiator thread, I am starting a new one. Has anyone noticed that the universal aluminum radiators for sale in Jegs/Summit etc are a ton cheaper than the specific fit type? This is very tempting! I have noticed that some of the universal dimensions are pretty close to the 67-72 oem copper type. Has anyone tryed a universal alum radiator in our trucks? The inlet/outlets are correct, but probably the the spacing for the mounting cushions are different? It would be nice to know if there is a universal out there that has an acceptable fit, or what was done to make it fit as far as mounting and shroud etc.

Re: Universal Alum radiators
What about the Aluminum "Entropy" one on Ebay? Application specific, nice fans, and a optional wiring relay that makes it all very easy - Mine should be arriving soon and I will post pics of it...

Re: Universal Alum radiators
I am using one of the universal alum radiators on my 84. My uncle used the same one on his 85, and the only thing he ran into was that he needed to put some square tubing underneath the radiator to raise it up. Other than that he said it fit, and works perfectly.

Re: Universal Alum radiators
Really nice radiator! But the price kind of defeats the reason for getting a universal lol

Re: Universal Alum radiators
I have one of the universal fit radiators. For the money saved, the extra time to install it was worth it. I had to make new brackets out of some flat aluminum seen in one of the above pics and since mine was thicker than stock I had to bend the base of the radiator support out a little bit. No big deal.

Re: Universal Alum radiators
Sounds like a good route to go. Been wondering the exact same thing...sometimes "universal" can turn into a nightmare.
