Has this ever happened to you?

This is what happens when you park one in a wooded area in the fall and through the winter. I'm sure it's a squirrel nest, but might be another kind of rodent. I haven’t removed it yet, can't wait to see the wiring.

Re: Has this ever happened to you?

Try parking one in Arizona...they don't build nests; they eat all of the wiring. Insulation is like Filet Mignon to a packrat.

Re: Has this ever happened to you?

Damn rodents, that's why i kill every squirrel i see. I know Ive shot close to 200 of them since Ive lived here in the past 10 years. Never seen a squirrels nest in a truck I see them up in the trees all the time, its probbly a packrat.

Re: Has this ever happened to you?

i've had that happen i jacked it up then used a leaf blower and blew them out from below to start, then did remainder fromtop, keep aircleaner on when doing this.. also pull the carb off and check intake manifold somehow a mouse got past the carbs butterflys in my 86 and was rotting in the intake made a mess of the motor ran crappy and plugged up my spark plugs with gunk took me a month before i figured it might be the carb so i took carb off and saw a decomposed mouse or what was left to him melted into the bottom of the manifold. yuck

Re: Has this ever happened to you?

When I worked at toyota, we would get cars in from people that lived in the sandias (mountains) and we`d open the hood and find mice in squirrel cages, nests like that, half eaten cactus, hood insulation eaten up, wires arcing from teeth marks, you name it!!! and of course black widows, (gotta watch out for those ladies)

Re: Has this ever happened to you?

One time I went up to my brother's hill farm driving my truck and replaced the damaged trailer connector on his travel trailer.

When I got home out here in the flatland I raised the hood on my truck to check the oil and was greated by the biggest brown snake I have ever seen, lol.

I could tell by the very pointed tail it was not a bothersome snake.

It had to be at least 4 ft long and crawled off the engine down onto the ground. Of course I gave it plenty of room as it crawled into the corn field.

Finding snakes out here in the county is not usual, but if you find one when you don't expect it can give you a start.

Re: Has this ever happened to you?

the new "nature series" engine cover you might want to take the cowl off and clean out the vents i took a piece of heater hose and taped it to my vacuum and stuck in down it the holes in the cab and in the hole in the inside of the cab and got all kinds of (nature stuff) out

Re: Has this ever happened to you?

They haven't gotten into my truck but, the neighborhood squirrels were storing nuts in my neighbor’s Arctic Cat. He was riding and the throttle jammed WOT! Very luckily, the nuts blocked enough airflow that it killed the engine instead of it taking off across the field on him. We pulled it home and I pulled a couple nuts out of the throttle body and at least 2 dozen nuts out of the airbox.
He was very lucky that day!

Would that be the "Real Tree" engine dress up accessory kit?

Re: Has this ever happened to you?

I went to start our 94 Olds 88 that's sat in the snow for about a month just last weekend. I opened up the hood to get ready to jump start it and noticed that my spark plug wires were totally GONE! Upon further inspection, it seems that one of our local squirrels had aquired a taste for spark plug wires. I don't see any other damage (I hope)
