Did my first exhaust. Have a questioin or two.
Never done an exhaust before. Bent it and all that good stuff. Being my truck is a stepside with the gastank in the back and a wood floor, airbags and notched, i dont really have options on where to mount the mufflers.. Its 2.5 all the way back.
Someone said that being my mufflers are facing longways down that it may collect moisture.. Being i wont drive much, never in the rain, im not to worried about it. Also someone said i should maybe get smaller mufflers. Being i just spent 160 bucks on these two mufflers im not to happy right now. LOL. Anyone have any recommendations on some small, decent sounding round mufflers?? Heres the pic. Sorry, it was late and i was laying on my back with my phone.

just drill a TINY hole on the lowest spot on the muffler for moisture to escape. As for smaller mufflers i dont know the smaller you get the louder you get.

Re: Did my first exhaust. Have a questioin or two.
The moisture is not from the rain but as the engine is warming up. It creates water vapor until everything gets up to temp. Short drives actually make it worst since everything doesn't get hot enough.
Do like said above, drill an 1/8" hole into the lowest rear point of the muffler. That will allow it to drain out. My Cherokee drips water from the stock muffler if I only have it running for a few minutes and not let it warm all the way up. Most stock vehicles do this.

Go with cherry bombs if you still want different mufflers.
Cheapest best option there is. |

In my opinion, your mufflers look just fine right there. I think you did an excellent install. Leave em'. If someone makes fun of it, just tell them that it looks better than one of those ricers with the muffler that's twice the size of the car. No doubt it sounds better too.

Well, just to throw a out-of-the-box idea into the ring, I have a buddy who ran a 454 in a '65 and used 3" straight out the back with some steel wool poked into the ends of the pipes. He attached three stainless screws through the pipe to keep the steel wool from blowing out. May sound crazy, but it sounded really good. You can "tune" the sound by how much steel wool you put in.

Re: Did my first exhaust. Have a questioin or two.
Nice lookin system When I worked in the muff shop, we did poke an 1/8" hole in the bottom of the muff(if the factory didnt allready put it there!) If the muff if pointed UP to the rear, punch that hole in the front(lowest point) to drain it. crazyAL

Re: Did my first exhaust. Have a questioin or two.
I went back to the shop tonight and took the exhaust out, finish welded it and installed the hangers.. I honestly COUL DNOT BE HAPPIER. They actually are higher in the rear then the rest of the exhaust.. SOUNDS AWESOME..
Now, if i can just figure why my fuel guage reads WAY PAST full and why my temperature guage goes WAAAYY past hot when its not then i would be good.. OH, and if i could adjust my damn lokar shift linkage correctly. ahaha

Make sure all the wire connections at the fuel tank are good. I had the same problem once and thats what was causing it. If I remember right, there is a ground wire and it was not making a good ground? It was a while ago, don't remember everything.

Re: Did my first exhaust. Have a questioin or two.
Here it is, all tacked together. Right before welding. It came out REALLY well. The mufflers sit back up. I will get better pics once i get it home.
