It is a very easy job can be do in about a hour it depends on how hard it is to get your ball joints to break loose. While you have it apart check you b-joints and make sure they are still tight if they are not then go ahead and replace them while you have it apart . Have you ever taken spring out before? If not you want to get a coilspring compressor becouse there is alot of preasure on the spring and they can take your head off if you are not carefull Auto- Zone has the compreesor the loan them you pay a deposet and when you bring the tool back you get your money back, You can find the springs In any mag. There are tons of company's selling them Hope this helps later B.

Be sure to get a high quality progressive rate spring with a lifetime warranty or you will be very disapointed with the ride and handling. If you can afford it go with drop spindles instead and you can use your exsisting shocks with no gecmetry change to contend with.

Spindles maintain the factory ride quality and coil springs will make the truck handle better---This largely depends on what kind of springs you purchase.

Coil springs from DJM and Western Chassis will give a smooth and compliant ride. Belltech and Eibach are performance oriented springs---The ladder being my choice because they're a variable rate design and still ride well.

Don't forget about early classic's springs. I've got their 2/4 drop springs and I love them.

I lowered mine with 1.5" springs and had to go with spindles as well, 2.5" for a total of 4" It was all done in my garage with ordinary tools, and I'm a novice. Everything came from Western and I opted for DT Dropped shocks. Western was good about getting me the right shock for the application. The previous coils had been cut and the ride was horrible! Now it is much lower and rides better. 76' Chevy S/S 454. Consider your motor when lowering, mine is obviously heavy.
