Any Blue Dots?

Hey guys. I've been thinking lately of getting some new lenses and putting in some blue dots for an old school hot rod look. The only time I would run them would be cruise night or for prom, since I think they are technically illegal in IL. I was wondering if any of you guys have done this and how the results look?

Thanks
Benjamin.

Re: Any Blue Dots?

to the best of my knowledge this is illegal and ticketable in most states so if you do go th is route better make sure youre not operating on a public highway with em.

Re: Any Blue Dots?

These have come and gone in popularity many times over the years. When installed correctly they create a bluish purple glow when you hit your brakes.
That "blue" light is where they become illegal. Check your local laws, but most states prohibit blue lights in the rear, and red lights on the front of a vehicle unless it is an approved emergency vehicle.

For those of you that don't know what a "blue dot" is, here ya go.

That and they are not centered in the lens. They have to be centered over the bulb to work correctly. Unfortunately our tail lights don't have the bulbs located in the middle.

Re: Any Blue Dots?

Before installing them, I would advise following someone around at night for awhile that has them...

A while back I had to follow a friend for about an hour (because he knew where we were going).
I couldn't be far enough away.
I felt like strangling him when we finally got to where we were going.
My girlfriend (at the time) and another couple in my car spent the entire drive looking out the side of the car, shielding their eyes.
I DO NOT LIKE BLUE DOTS..............

Re: Any Blue Dots?

Or you can shave your tail lights and mount a flush led bar in the back like most mini trucks.Or weld in caddy lights like most mini trucks.
