newer rims?
Say, does anyone know what newer style rims will fit safely on my 71 GMC? looking at adding '96 stock GMC rims. Mine are 6 lug, and the truck is the GMC version Longhorn. Wondering about clearence, etc.
thanks, |

Re: newer rims?
I thought a 71 GMc would be a 5 lug? If it is a 6 lug then the `96 rim hub clearance shouldnt be an issue. I dont know about backspace though

Re: newer rims?
I ran into the hub clearance issue from the newer rims, at least after market. Its a smaller diameter. I got by it with a 1/2 spacer on the front with longer lugs. On the back I got a larger spacer which not only fixed the hub size issue but also spaced it out correctly for the offset. There are a couple threads on here about modern rims, but I can't really help you beyond that.
Check these out, you might find some helpful info; http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=371387 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=363031 My truck is the black one...gives you an idea how it looks with the spacing corrected. I would have like a little wider rear spacers...but not much. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=361157&page=3 PM me if you have any questions or needs some pics. Good luck!

Re: newer rims?
These came off of my 69 C10. Just an idea. They are 6lug. Not trying to sell them. You are to far away.

Re: newer rims?
all longhorns were 3/4 ton or one ton... they were all 8 lug from the factory... unless yours has had a 1/2 ton suspention swapped in.
