72 Blazer seals

Hi all, over the next couple of weeks I am going to be going over all my weather stripping, of course alot is cracked and needs replaced. There are alot of makers out there. Just wanting to hear some opinions on diff products you have used, what fits well what was a pain.. Main thing is wanting to seal the cab back up tight so will be doing door/roof/tailgate/hatch and will be doing all my window felts etc. I do not have a problem paying for quality although I have purchased things in the past from Steele that were no better quality than softseal etc.. So looking for some exp opinions. It appears all my glass seals are still in decent enough but may have to replace my hatch window seal. Any advice would be appreciated.

From my searches it appears people have been happy with whomever LMC uses, I will see if I can get a sample of thier products. I have found 7 different manufacturers, staying state side of course is always my preference but fit is of course my first concern.

Thanks

Reid

Re: 72 Blazer seals

hey red, I have been replacing seals on my 72 as well. A couple months ago I put the door seals in that I purchased from LMC. They fit ok, but when they got to my house they were bent in several places. It was irritating and you can still see where they were tweaked after I glued them in. They did fit correctly however. Make sure you check out Classic Parts of America as well, they have many of the same products as LMC but they do not cost as much. The seals there are much cheaper.

Good luck gluing them in, it was a real pain in some spots! I used a heat gun and electrical tape to hold the stripping in place and make it dry quicker.

Re: 72 Blazer seals

There are some small black push pin type weatherstrip holders holding the strip tight around the driver and passenger door on the top, don't loose them and be careful when you remove them. I do not know where to find them. LMC shows they have them but I haven't seen them. Anybody gotten them aftermarket?

Re: 72 Blazer seals

If your refering to the weather strip push pins around the opening of the fiberglass top around the dr. and pas. window, I bought some from The Truck Shop, p/n 30-1601, .65 cents apiece. That was 5/17/06, holy crap I better get those installed. The weather stripping I bought does not have the holes for these pins pre-made, so it may be a biatch to install. I was hoping someone else would post their experience before I installed them. Therefore, it's been almost 4yrs. and there still sitting in my pile of stuff to get installed. LOL
