Newer doors

Is there anyone that has upgraded their early square-body to power doors (windows and locks) from a later style square? The reason I ask is because of matching the interior (door panels to dash primarily), and also what you did with the door seal/weatherstripping.

I put the later door panels (81-up) in my 73 with the older dash. I didn't run into any problems. I replaced the door weatherstrip completely with produsct from JC Whitney. It fit pretty well, but I don't remember the brand offhand (that was about 7 years ago now).

Is there different options when it comes to door weatherstripping? I have three different sets of doors in my garage. My '73 has stripping attached to the upper part of the door, and the entire perimeter on the cab (but it still leaks like crazy!), my suburban doors have weatherstripping screwed onto the door perimeter, and my '87 blazer doors don't have anything (could have been removed). I want to order some new rubber for the complete door-to-cab area to keep this thing dry. I just don't know if I need to mix and match. Any advice? Oh, I'm using the '87 Blazer doors on the '73 cab. Thanks!

I think the channel on the top of the '73 door is there for water. In '73, drip rails were an option so if you have drip rails, it probably isn't needed. You may also want to try to adjust tohe top of the door in to get a tighter seal.

You know that makes perfect sense! I never thought that the extra rubber was there because of it not having a drip rail. Thanks man!
