Re: truck wont turn over
Auto or stick? If its an auto it might be the neutral start switch. Try pulling your gear selector to the left when turning the key on.

Re: truck wont turn over
maybe your collum has messed up like mine, take the panels off the bottom and loosen the ignition switch try pulling it towards you and maybe itll start, if anything just to get it on the road you can wire up a toggle switch to the starter on wire to the battery on the posative and the other wire to the s terminal(the small one on starter) youd be able to turn the power on with the key then hit the toggle to start it and youll be fine but id check out the ignition switch for sure, could be the rod in the collum has messed up sounds like the same exact problem i just had with mine good luck man.

Re: truck wont turn over
its auto column. where is the neutral switch exactly. and the ignition switch on the column seems fine i pull the rod and push it but no response to turn on . i might take it off and buy a new one just to be on the safe side. there are pretty cheap anyways. thanks for the info. i keep trying to figure it out.

Re: truck wont turn over
do u have a volt meter? test the purple wire on the starter while some one is trying to start it (be safe, very dangerous)
also test the positive lead to the starter, if neither, prob a netural saftey switch or maybe starter. |

Re: truck wont turn over
The neutral safety switch is the one at teh bottom of teh column, right by the firewall. Check the connections to make sure that they are on. If so, you may need to adjust the switch.

Re: truck wont turn over
Like Spinm said start checking voltage before you start throwing money at it. Check the battery also. Just because it is new doesn't mean that it is good. Check the voltage at the batt with everything turned off, then keep your eye one the meter while someone turns the key to "start".

Re: truck wont turn over
well its not the battery. i even put my tahoe battery on it and no response. and the neutral switch at the bottom seems fine . but i havent tried to by pass it. i bought the ignition switch on the column for 10 bucks so hopefully that will be it. if not next thing will be trying to run a switch to the starter to start it . last time i had it running it turned over fine. ran for 5 minutes until i killed it. now im surprised about it. maybe something small. thanks for the suggestions.

Re: truck wont turn over
Pull your starter and have it bench tested at your local auto parts store i.e. NAPA, CARQUEST, O'RILEY'S......

Re: truck wont turn over
yup, check your starter, could of gone bad,
or like my old 85 chevy, oil seeped into the starter bolts and they came loose over time, and gears got stuck (jammed) with the flywheel. and did the same thing, wouldnt click, or anything. |

Re: truck wont turn over
that is where i would start too, leave the key off, jump the two terminals it should crank, but won't start with the key off. if it won't crank, starter is shot.

Re: truck wont turn over
don't go turning bolts before testing it yourself like i mentioned before.
dont jump it incase there is a bad ground or something and it fry's your computer controlled yukon and costs you more than the entire truck is worth. |
