Budget Brake Delemna

Hi and help
i have a 6 bolt drum brake set up.Should I just add power all the way around OR should I put disc on front?
If I go disc then I will have to change to 5 bolt all the way around?????
I still have to add power steering cant afford to go too far over budget but I would like to get it all done by spring

Re: Budget Brake Delemna

I just read the stickies on disc brake conversions. It's located at the beginning of this forum. Answered all my questions.

Here's the link: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ght=disc+brake

Re: Budget Brake Delemna

You could start by adding power and by making sure all your shoes, wheel cylinders, lines and hoses are good. When you are ready financially, you can do the disc conversion, which will be significantly more costly, especially if you have to change wheels. You will still be able to use your booster set up but will have to get a proportioning valve to replace the distribution block used on the drum/drum set up. Non power drum brakes are terrible. Power drums, if all the components are in good shape, work pretty well.

Re: Budget Brake Delemna

6 bolt discs are available if you don't want to change wheels. Steep though.

drums are good if you know how to read a service manual and maintain them
