1/2 ton and 3/4 ton

What are the differences between the two? I'm assuming that the 3/4 has leaf springs instead of the coils, but does everything else bolt up? I've got a neighbour with a 67 1/2 thats beat to **** but has a good chassis and I'm looking at a 3/4 that would work out great if I could transfer the drivetrain and interior over

The drive train and interior are the same. The only difference is the suspension and rear end. My 3/4 ton has a Dana 60 and 1/2 doesn't have anything that heavy duty. All the body parts bolt right up from a 1/2 to 3/4 ton. The only problem with the drive train would be the transmission hump in the cab if were going from auto to stick or the other way around.

there are some coil rear chevy and gmc 3/4 tons.I have a 3/4 ton gmc with rear coil springs in it.

Basicly, a 3/4 ton is exactly like a long wheel base 1/2 ton with the exception of;
Rear end
spindles
hubs
springs (leaf or coil...both were avalible)
front suspention parts (ball joints and stuff)
Body mounts
badges


If memory serves...that is about it.

There is a little mis-information about the differences between the two.

See this thread for some pictures I posted comparing the differences between the 1/2 and 3/4 ton frames. There are some differences.

Mine has HD coils specified on the glovebox, it rides kinda rough without a load in the bed. The only downside to coils is that when they get old and worn out, they'll sag and then you gotta replace 'em.
