Spark plugs

I am changing a 69 with a 307 standard distributor to an hei. what number of plugs are you using? Or maybe a year range and I am guessing a 350 plug. What works best? Heck should I just widen the gape on the ones I have and run them?

Re: Spark plugs

I run my plugs at .045 when used with HEI ignition but .035 works also!

Re: Spark plugs

You can run whatever plugs you normally run. Just gap them to .040-.045

agreed. I have tried AC, Champion, Autolite and NGK. I have had the best results with NGK. Now I run them in everything.

Re: Spark plugs

Don’t some spark plugs have a ‘T’ at the end of the part number for using larger gaps?

Re: Spark plugs

andy, you say you have the best results with NGK. what does that mean? runs better, gas mileage ??? i have heard if you run 44TS you would use 44TSX with an HEI dist. AC DELCO is designed for GM, that is what i use.

Re: Spark plugs

Has anyone run the e3 plugs? Just curious if they're a gimmick or they actually perform well.

Wish I could remember where I seen it but I've heard they actually out perform post plugs on the market, and they are the real deal. I think I might have seen a test on horsepower TV.

Give it to a ford guy... tell them it's the newest fuel efficiency design and double the price.

I don't want to hijack, but I had a question that dovetailed with the original question. I was handed an HEI that came out of a 73 with a 307... yeah, not original... BUT my question is, the PO had installed anti-fouls How do those play in with gapping an HEI fired plugfor a 307?
