Red face Need some advice on engine swap!

I have a 72 4x4 with a v-8. The distributor is set against the fire wall.It was orginally a 6 cylinder. Do I need to change the crossmember to get the motor more forward? What all do I need to change to get it right?:

Re: Need some advice on engine swap!

You just need the v-8 motor stands. They bolt in a set of holes in the front of the cross member. If you do a search on here you can find some pics that show exactly where they go.

Re: Need some advice on engine swap!

Your 6 cyl stands will work this just shows why the engine is sitting so close to the firewall. Post #2 picture #3 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=375443

He has a 4x4. The link posted above is for 2wd trucks.

His truck is set up properly. Small blocks in 4x4 trucks sit further back than 2wd trucks do.

Re: Need some advice on engine swap!

i haad the same problem with my blazer when i pulled the v6. when i first put the new 383 engine in the distributor cap broke when i gave it some gas. i had to pull the engine forward just to put a new/smaller distributor in.. and if i ever have any problems with this one i will have to do the same thing. i was thinking about putting a one inch lift in. dont know what else to do.
