Re: How do I remove wax from black plastic?
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser's are awesome!!! I have used them for several different truck related projects, and they are a hidden gem.
As far as removing wax though... I haven't used them for this process. I'd be interested to know how they work. IIRC... Mother's has a cleaner/protectant (Back to Black, I think) that will restore the black to faded/waxed black trim.

Re: How do I remove wax from black plastic?
Apply a little Fluid Film on a soft rag and wipe it on, It not only removes wax from black plastic/rubber but makes it look shiny new again.....

Re: How do I remove wax from black plastic?
A trick I've used in the detail shops for years is get a small nylon detail (paint brush). Take electrical tape and wrap around the bristles so there is only about 1inch of brush hanging out of the bottom so its stiff and flat. Be sure surface is cool and wet with water. Get a mild all-purpose cleaner (409, simple green, ect) and mix 50/50 with water. Spray cleaner on a small area and softly and slowly rub the detail brush back and fourth onto the pours of the plastic. The small tight bristles will work into the wax and agitate it loose. Wipe dry with a clean cloth.
If you don't like Armor-All or dressings. There is a product called "Engine Blackout" made by Clean Cycle Products. That is put on with a sponge detail brush and will make it look new for about 3 months with regular washing. It's usually used for the black engines of Harleys but works well on plastic. You can usually find it at all Harley dealerships or online. About $15.00 a bottle and will last a good year or so. There is also a product called "Armidillo" used in the CHEVY dealerships for the fading plastics on the Avalanche models. It's a bit expensive but if you sneak back to the detail guys they may hook you up! Bring'em a 12 pack or something. GOOD LUCK!

Re: How do I remove wax from black plastic?
WD-40 on a rag removes dried on buffing compound residue and wax smears on flat black roof rack components, trim moldings, bumper covers, etc. A tooth brush used with WD-40 will get into the creases, cracks and corners.
