No Brake Lights
Well I know this isnt the correct board but ya all are so smart so I figured you could help me out.
Ok well my buddy just bought a 95 extcab long bed truck on thursday and I cant figure out why he doesnt have brake lights. Left and right turn single work, running lights work, and the hazzard lights work. But when you hit the brakes there isnt any lights. What could it be? A bulb? the switch??????? Any help would be great, we need it to get us down to pismo safely.

the easy way to check is take the 2wires off the switch put a jumper between the wiores if the brakelights come on it's a problem with the switch it needs to be either adjusted or replaced

I see more late model GMs have bad turn signal switches causing this than brake light switches.
Try wiggling the turn signal switch with your foot on the brake...see if they flicker. |

double check the brake switch (usually not the problem) And then check out the turn signal switch. Does the third brake liight work?

Good point on the 3rd brake light...I knew I was forgetting to say something.
If the 3rd light works...then it is 99.9999% lilely to be the turn signal switch. |
