Re: how many LSX trucks are on the road
There are quite a few on you tube. Including a gorgeous orange GMC, black windows, with 15x8's with a LS1 under the hood. I think it's titled 6.0L C-10 on the results page. I will find it tonight and post it.

Re: how many LSX trucks are on the road
I'm getting older, takes me a while to get here....geez!
Have had mine in since August 09. 2006 5.3L/4L60E/3.42. Getting 19-20mpg before the dyno tune this week, haven't driven it since except to get home. It's been snowing and the roads are real sloppy and covered with magnesium chloride. There are a few minor things I would have done different: * Swapped to the shorter oil pan before the engine was installed. * I used the truck manifolds. I'll have them ceramic coated sometime soon. I should have done that when I did the install, but at least the R&R very easily. * Drill and tap the head for the temp sensor. The adapter is leaking still, but fortunately I have enough room to be able to drill and tap the head without needing to remove it, or the heater/AC box. * I kind of wish I had used SS braided hose for the trans cooler lines from the beginning. I will be switching that out soon, as that will make the AC compressor a lot easier to install. * Should have used SS braided line from the FPR to the engine. I used Summit's FI hose, but I do not like that much continuous rubber hose in the fuel system. That, and it won't pass NHRA tech with that much rubber, and I want to take it to the track this spring to see what is will run. Performance is awesome. Power to the tires is 266hp/305tq. That, along with the mileage, makes it perfect for me. My entire goal with the swap was economy first, performance second. I think I achieved that, but will continue to try to squeeze out as much economy as I can without sacrificing performance. The dyno is only about 3/4 of a block away. The only thing I see changing that will be a radical departure for a typical square body will be the trailing arm rear suspension swap. Don't know when I will do that, maybe this spring or early summer. This truck shares daily driver duties with my Subaru, and will until next fall when I buy a new (to me) truck for a DD. Then all bets are off for Fred, because at that point, fuel economy won't be in the picture. The list of ideas keeps changing, and somehow, seems to keep getting longer.

Re: how many LSX trucks are on the road
More specific question: does anybody tow with their swap truck?
I have a '88 crewcab dually that hardly ever gets used for what I bought it for. Considering trading down to a half-ton SWB that would, most likely, get a Vortech / LSX swap. Feel free to answer by PM if that would keep the thread from getting too cluttered up. Last edited by D.FENS; 02-19-2010 at 08:23 PM. Reason: Grammarz |

Re: how many LSX trucks are on the road
been running mine for about 6 months now. Im getting about 18 mpg with a lead foot. I love the performance but there are always room for improvement. I went with an 87 octane tune and i could use a limited slip diff.

Re: how many LSX trucks are on the road
It would be nice to have a hybrid video section on this board. hint..hint. That would really get the ball rolling to see and hear you guys in your LS trucks.
I will be looking at a few 6.0l engines 2nd week of march and I haven't even really driven the 350 that's in it now. Thanks guys for getting me hooked. Sledge |

Re: how many LSX trucks are on the road
I've had mine done for a few years now. I don't know what mileage I get, but I only use it for a weekend toy. As far as the power, I'm always up and down with it...somedays are good and somedays are crappy(usually due to my crappy tuning and lack of experience). If I could do it over again, I'd be more realistic about what my goals are to avoid buying parts twice. My real goal was to go fast....didn't need the stereo or rollpan or new sliding back window. A forged 370 or LS3 are in my plans for next year.
