Should I use gloss, flat, ... when touching up underhood, behind the grill etc?

Thanks

Re: What kind of black for underhood...

I would use a matte black.. kinda like the finish when you get the aftermarket parts.. another thing i did on my inner wheel wells which came out real nice was i took rustoleum metallic black and sprayed it that color then cleared over that a couple of times. it lasted real nice

Ive done it all, dirt grabs to flat and gets scratched waaay to easy. Gloss looks cheap, satin seems to do the trick

i use flat and black, depending on where, the flat would show a leak then as shiny

Re: What kind of black for underhood...

satin is what i've used on all my paint projects... looks like crap the first few coats but 3-4 later its purty

rustolium satin black all purpose( i know its not auto paint but it does the trick, and it's not picky on what it'll stick to)

Re: What kind of black for underhood...

I agree with the satin black. I used the Dupli-Color truck bed spray in the rattle can, and I liked it because it is a satin finish, but also has a little bit of a texture to it.

Re: What kind of black for underhood...

Eastwood has a great "underhood black". In fact that is what it is called. I use it on a lot of things. It has a high concentration of solids much better than the cheap rattle cans at Lowes, Auto Zone or TSC.

Is that more of an OEM finish too?

Re: What kind of black for underhood...

Satin or semi-gloss black is the ticket, the flat black does catch dirt and hold on to it.
