69 gmc c10 disc swap
had a guy contact me about an 85 chevy 3/4 ton he had for sale he knew i was looking for an inexpensive way to do a disc swap on my truck he said the spindles would bolt right up its a 2wd but being a 3/4 i wasnt sure has anyone dealt with this? it would be nice if its true due to the fact he only wants 150 for the truck

You could do a front crossmember swap all right, but you'd end up with a 3/4 ton front end. Like Wes said, the parts will not mix and match with 1/2 ton stuff. It's all or nothing.

yeah thats what i figured this is my first round with the early c10's i have found a few 71 and 72's local that are being parted im just going to go that route i really appreciate the quick response guys im sure ill have plenty of questions to come

Don't forget that any of the 73-87 half ton's will be a direct bolt-in (You just have to modify two holes and drill two new ones.) I just completed this on my 70 and am very pleased.
There's plenty of that vintage lying around. Edit: Don't forget to get the MC/Booster prop valve from the newer truck as well... will save a lot of hassle and cash. Shawn Last edited by Zeke's Garage; 02-25-2010 at 11:42 AM. |

yeah im going crazy with ideas as well ive been trying to get my hands on a 67-72 since i was 15 had an 84 c10 step and it just wasnt enough lol i picked up a very clean baby blue 69 gmc step straight six three on the tree for a ridiculous 1500 bucks im still in shock !!

ok so i understand the front cross member swap but id like to also swap the rear to 5 lug and have read that the axles are different is this true? can i just swap late model axles into my 10 bolt or do i need to modify a late 10 bolt to fit my coil spring truck?
