Rear diff tricks???

Howdy folks, well one thin leads to another! Im making steady progress towards the poor house and divorce on this 72 Chevy C-10 LWB. Before I install the new brake cylinders I thought I may as well see about axle seals, yoke seal(which is wet with oil)and cover gasket. My question is; Can these 12 bolt rear ends be made into a limited slip or positrac type rearend? Or do you have switchout the whole rear end for another type? I seem to remember a kit that installed and would lock both axles. Input? Ideas? Thanks you guys!

Re: Rear diff tricks???

The 12 bolt truck 8.875 axle has a pretty good aftermarket following as far as posi/locker selection goes . No need to swap the entire axle . The eaton posi seems to be well liked .

Yes the eaton posi works great, a little pricey for my blood.

I have looked at that before. You said you used one like it...do you know which one? Under the applications listed it doesn't show a 67 c-10, which is what I have, but I would like to find something like this.

x2 on that - just tell them what ratio you want and what diff. Eatons are good, but kinda pricey, I had an Auburn 'High Performance' LSD in my '92 C1500 w/ 10 bolt and it worked great. I would recommend it, and the price is good too. I got mine through Jeg's, but had the rearend with new 3.73 gears professionally set up.
