Need tailgate; what will work?
Hi Friends,
My '71 Chevy Fleetside 4x4 restoration is on the downhill slide. But, I need a tailgate!! PLEASE tell me what years of Chevy trucks will work in my '71 Chevy. I've heard only '71 - '72 Chevy will work, then I hear that from '71 though all 1970's pickups has a tailgate that will fit. I'm in NW Montana, so any suggestions or knowledge is greatly appreciated. Stepside? or fleet? Stepside gates are from like 56-87 or somthing along those lines. If fleetside, 67-72 should all work. There are small differences, but most people don't know.

^x3... Any '67-'72 fleetside gate will work. Some have trim holes, some don't but that would be the only difference.... Tri-plus makes a decent aftermarket one.

Thanks fellas! This project has taken nearly a year but the light is at the end of the tunnel! Thanks for the great feedback, this widens the scope considerably!
