Ballast Resistor?
Can't seem to find it! It is supposed to be on the firewall but it is not there! This was an I-6 at birth but PO put in a 283. It has a DSOM mod for a neutral start switch (manual) and some other interesting mods. May the ballast resistor is the reason the points went south? Where is it supposed to be? Got pics?

'67, so it is supposed to be a separate resistor...mysteriously located somewhere. I guess I could trace wires from the hot-run side of the ignition to the coil...DOH!

Stllookn, With the key on what is the voltage on the positive side of the coil. It should be around 9 volts. The wire is a resistance wire. If someone has replaced it get a ballast resistor for a 56 chev and mount it some where out of shight.

The ballast (resistor wire) , is a white cloth type wire.... the yellow wire gives full battery voltage under eng cranking only(yellow & white are together @ the coil, & yellow runs to the solenoid). Good luck, crazyL

Yeah, what oldiron and crazyl said, my 67 panel didn't have a ballast resistor, it had a white cloth resistor wire. As does my 68. They were both I-6 trucks in the beginning.
