Floorboard Light Melting.....
Hello all,
I have a little problem with the socket for my center floorboard inside light. This is the light that lights up the trans. hump. This light socket will not last at all with the stock bulb......mine keeps melting. Anybody out there got a metal one in their rides? BTW: I don't want to go LED on this bulb. |

That is strange. Mine doesn't melt. Make sure you have the correct bulb in - the "stock" one may be too much wattage. Either swap out the bulb, or get some other type from a junked car.

I agree, it doesnt sound right that its melting.
How hot is it getting? What bulb do you have in there? Myabe a previous owner put the wrong bulb in. Now when you go to replace it you think thats the correct bulb, not knowing that the PO put the wrong bulb in. Its happens.

Have you modified the wiring or added anything to the light system?
Your not blowing fuses? There may be something wrong with your light switch, it may be allowing to much power to the light.

It is all stock.
The bulb.....the wiring.......and everything else. I was just looking for a metal housing that could replace the plastic one. Mike |
