Picked this up today!
I bought this 68 earlier today for $800.00. The truck has a 350sb/350turbo with a 12-bolt rearend. Needs a lot of little things, but i'm going to drive it to work and fix what i can on the weekends! It also has power steering and power disc brakes. Another odd thing, it has leaf springs out back instead of coils, I thought 67-72 trucks were coil spring??! I still have to wipe the ugly off it. The "redneck rollpan" in the back has got to go for sure! Anyway let me know what u guys think. I'll probly have more questions down the road. Thanks, Joseph

Re: Picked this up today!
Nice find! And IIRC the 67-72 C10 trucks were available with your choice of coil or leaf rear suspension when ordered. I like the leaf setup better personally, but probably because it is familiar to me.
Keep us posted on the upgrades.

Re: Picked this up today!
I have leaf springs with factory option helper springs (massive!) in my GMC. I was under the impression that only GMCs came with leaf springs, and Chevys were all coils. Maybe you have the optional "alternate" cab installed on a GMC frame?
Congrats on an awesome $800 deal, looks really nice.

Re: Picked this up today!
GMC's came "stock" with leafs and Chevy's came "stock" with coils. However, either truck could be optioned with either suspension.
Nice find for $800. What's wrong with that back bumper?

Re: Picked this up today!
Great find. A little clean up and you're on the road. Is that an original Pine Wood rear rollpan? Super rare option! LOL Cnut

Re: Picked this up today!
the redneck rollpan is a beaut! I have a 70 with leafs on it, I like it, made shortening the frame alot easier. If you want to lower the rear just take the leafs in to a spring shop and have them dearched. Nice truck for 800 bux!

Re: Picked this up today!
can't beat the price if it runs...
that roll pan is just a cheyenne super wood grain option.. Looks like the went 5 lug front and rear too, 68's had 6 or 8 lugs. Looks like it might have been a C-20 at one time too based on the brake booster.

Re: Picked this up today!
Gold and white is a 50th Anniversary truck... not rare but different...
yep, 2WD(C), V8 (E), 3/4 ton (2), pickup (4) 68 (8), Freemont (Z), six digit VIN can be confirmed on frame, just to the rear of the steering box on top... without the glovebox you can't confirm engine, 307,327 or 396 were the options...

Re: Picked this up today!
Thanks for the help Big Mike! My thought to, i think someone swapped the frame out. Went from 3/4 to 1/2 ton. I think the frame might be a 71-72 because of the disc brakes and power steering. I guess i'm going to have to get my trusty wire brush and see if i can find the vin# on the frame! Thanks again for the help! Joseph
