upholstery shops in ATX area

Anybody know any good upholstery shops or do interior work in the Austin area? I need to have my headliner recovered in black material.

Thanks,

Re: upholstery shops in ATX area

I had my headliner done by a company off 51st. It's on the westside of I-35. It's about 1-2 blocks. They do a great job. I've done three headliners. All warrantied for life or ownership of the vehicle. Sorry, I can't remember their name. I did find them in the yellow pages.

Me too. Same shop, 1 day turnaround and they are in the phone book.

Jim's Top Shop off N. Lamar does good work. They are next to Austin Performance and Austin Corvette. That little strip of shops is pretty much the last piece of the muscle car scene in Austin.

Didn't find it on yellowpages.com but I'll just drive by there on Sat. and see if I find the place.

Re: upholstery shops in ATX area

Well that was a bust, the guy told me on the phone that since the material on my headliner is not falling down they won't touch it. He said I could try Mario's interiors but they are only open M-F 8 to 4. I sure hope I don't have to buy an aftermarket one cause those things are expensive :-(

Why dont you just do it your self you can buy the material and adhesive at most any big chain autoparts store.

Okay, I might try this but I have a couple of questions. Does this look like good headliner material.

http://www.perfectfit.com/15994/1540...lining-60.html

Also what type of adhesive should I use? What type of prep should I do to the existing headliner board before?

thanks for the info.

Re: upholstery shops in ATX area

If you are going to do your own, make a custom design!! Cut some thin sponge foam into flames, bowtie, swirls or whatever. Glue the foam onto the board. Cover it with new cloth. Looks great and easy to do.

Yes the material is exactly the same type as the stock material.
I used 3M upholstery adhesive.
Prep is simple just make sure all existing foam and material are removed as much as possible and follow the instructions on the adhesive can.
