Found 3 (283 motors and heads) does anyone still use these.
Hi guys, just wondered if anyone still uses these blocks. I checked the numbers and they are 1960 and heads were 1967 60cc.

Nothing wrong with the good old 283. Just most people want more power, so the easy to find, and hop up 350 seems to have become the standard. A nicely built 283 with 4 barrel, cam, some compression, and headers will still get you 300 horse. Some one else is always going to have more power, so if you like the 283, go for it!

Ok, I fess up. I still have a Virgin 64 283 block, 2 steel cranks, & 3 sets of rods, & 1 setof sj 327 rods packed in grease.......all I need is a blower to top the mix!

I love my little 283, perfect motor for what I need. I f I was going to build my truck for big horsepower I'd go big block (for sure), just my opinion though , later Doug

hey guys i need a set of 283 heads for 1 of my 57's,, jaquesdean if you would let go of a decent set please let me know,, any 283 head will be fie, i dont need anything super nice just a good set of stockers,,thanx pal

I have a 72 with a 283 in it, its pretty hot, i have a 283 in my 68 maro too, and it runs consistant 8s in the 1/8

I do run the mighty 327 which r close to the same and love them.I will be running a 327/400 373 posi in my 69 short step.
