Thats right a GMC V12. Check out this link, they are bringing them back, not sure if they will fit in our trucks, but I bet some of you guys can make it fit.

2400 rpm peak power with the stock cam, closer to 3000 rpm peak power with their "HP" cam. Cool novelty item though.

Re: Gmc 702 c.i. V12
This is actually on my "to do" list.
The way i would do it would be to move the cab back and shorten the bed; It actually looks pretty good in my mind and if i get around to it i'll make up a sketch and post it. |

Re: Gmc 702 c.i. V12
Fact: GM is now selling the latest in engineering technology, the LS9 supercharged V8 crate engine. It is a marvel. Yet with all the advancements and the addition of a supercharger, the advertised torque of 604lb-ft has not caught the 630 lb-ft that GMC advertised in 1960 for the stock 702 V12! And in our opinion, the looks of the V12 is still un-matchable. We have seen the LS9 for sale at $4,000 more than a ThunderV12. Wow! We are sure the LS9 is also a good looking engine, but until someone removes all the beauty covers and other "stuff" so we can see the actual motor, we won't know for sure.

Like the one in this video
Now if you had a matching 60's chevy 3/4 ton to pull said boat, that would be even cooler.

Re: Gmc 702 c.i. V12
It is two GMC V6s put together. One block, crank, cam, etc. but V6 heads, rods, etc.
Those V12s were probably the best-SOUNDING truck engine ever built. I almost deluded myself into picking up an old Packard frame off eBay to build into a rod with one of these things in it, but common sense intervened. I did some sketches and dimensions for an underslung frame for a Brooklands-style track roadster (google Napier-Railton) that'd be just about right for a 702, but that's going to wait until I find a first-rate aluminum panel beater who works for beer money (fat chance, that.) Re: Gmc 702 c.i. V12
A sure sign they aren't doing so well financially:
Reserve an engine for 2010 production for 25% down. Reserve an engine for 2011 production for 10% down. |

Re: Gmc 702 c.i. V12
There use to be a few of those in the Wellington area that were used to power irrigating water pumps, and they ran 24/7. There were also some pumps that ran Hemis.... both 348's and 426's.
I would LOVE to build a hot rod around one of those engines!
