#1 - replace spindle, then rebuild frontend

#2 - have mirrors, and drip rails shaved, rollpan installed, and dent fixed

#3 - engine

i know i'll be able to afford a mild engine before summer is over. i'll be looking around the papers and ads on forums to keep my eyes open.

Eric, are you going to install a front pan too? I think front pans look good, especially when the truck has a rear pan.

Aren't the drip rails just held on with adhesive, or are they bolted on? 73's never had driprails, it wasn't even available until 74...and even then it was an option I believe. I think they were standard equip starting in 75.

drip rails are bolted in with a LOT of bolts. i'm thinking about atleast 10 perside.

i may install a front pan, but it would be a bolt in fiberglass one. i know dave hates having his front one welded in(to much work to fix stuff).

Eric...how do you figure that a fiberglass one has advantages over metal??? they are gonna have to use a ton of filler to make it work since its fiberglass and not metal. Metal can just be welded in and lots less filler. I dont like the one I have since there is too much surface showing....I want the one with billet inserted in the middle so rock chips wont show as much.

i'm gonna have the rear steel one welded in, and a front fiberglass one that bolts in.

that is if i get a front one. i dont want a front one welded in, so that i have to cut it up if i need to get the fenders off or do anything like that.

Dave, it can be done. and i bet you that a fiberglass front pan that my dad and i put on one of my trucks looks every bit as good as your welded in steel pan. of course, you'll get that when the person you're working with has been working with fiberglass longer than you've been alive. :p seriously, i think bolting in the front pan is a better idea. especially since the front fenders are prone to rusting like they are.

Damn...Costanza....Im not saying it wont look good...hell mine looks like ass right now. Im saying unless he wants to spend a chit load of money on having the specialty work done... he is wasting time going with a fiberglass one. There is NO advantage to using fiberglass to metal...other than weight which is a non issue on these trucks.

And what the hell does the front roll pan have to do with fender rust?
Not to mention, are you forgetting the fact that your grille bolts to this section as well??

LOL riptide!! Might as well use it cause that is how good a bolted in front pan will look.

Eric...the whole concept behind a smooth rollpan is just that...smooth....not bolted on with bolts and gaps and chit.
