Newb from Oklahoma
Hey guys I am currently restoring/rebuilding a 1975 3/4 ton High sierra camper special. I bought the truck for 600 bucks and drove it home. It has a factory 454, TH400, and 14 bolt. For the most part the truck is pretty straight just needs a bed.
I am currently in the process of finishing up the interior. It was a blue from the factory but I am converting to black. The truck had some wood grain accents in the interior, only on the door panels and the dash. I went over the piece on the dash with a velvet black and it turned out grainy and actually looks really good. The two pieces on the door panels I took off and covered in leather. As for the interior metal I am painting it gunmetal gray to match the soon to be exterior. As for the engine, when I bought the truck it had a slight miss, I didnt really want to mess with the engine until I had the paint and body done but curiosity got the best of me. I was curious as to what heads it had on it so I pulled a valve cover (it has 781's on it) when I pulled the valve cover off I noticed that one of the push rods was not touching the rocker arm. So I grabbed it and only pulled out a piece of a push rod. I pulled the intake off to find the rest broken in the lifter valley. Turns out someone put an exhaust push rod on the intake side. After looking more closely I saw that the cam had a flat lobe. Well now I have a comp 262/270 505/515 cam, bought some comp ultra gold 1:7's, and all supporting mods. It has a edelbrock performer 2.0 intake and a 800CFM quadra et with a jet performance custom carb kit. Hopefully I will have everything done and be able to start driving it by the middle of march. I will post some before and after pics as soon as I get some time. |
