Truck loaded up headed for paint...

Well, I finally made arrangements with wife and wallet to get truck painted. Just loaded it up on the trailer, just waiting for wife and kids to get here so we can leave for Houston. About 8 hour ride. I'll leave it there at my friends shop until it's done. Still not certain on color yet, I'll have time over the weekend to browse through his color chip books.

I got most of the trim removed...he will take drip rails and glass out when he starts body work.
Can't wait!

Awesome for you! I will be watching for updates too. If you like white, but want some change, look at the Audi & Lexus pearl whites. They are really nice colors, and are a very pure white color not creamy like the White Diamond from GM. Any idea of what color direction you are leaning?

Re: Truck loaded up headed for paint...

uhh... don't they have any P&B shops in Florida?

just jackin with ya! I understand about the friend's shop deal. Mine stayed at my friend's shop for 2 years and was worked on only when time and money would allow. when I was building my house, he got so tired of pushing it around his shop, we built a temp shed to store it in. thankfully, it was only a few miles from my work, not eight hours and three states away

Very true. Another great thing about the Lexus pearl white is you can blend it. A buddy of mine painted a truck with it and the owner brought it back for some minor repair. We were amazed that he was able to blend it with out having to paint the entire panel.

Where you going to in Houston?

Re: Truck loaded up headed for paint...

sorry all. Just got back. Took us almost 12 hours to get there Friday, traffic and so many accidents on I-10.
Only took us 9 hours to get home which is good, I had to drag the uhaul back with me.
My Friends shop is 3315 Red Bluff Road in Pasadena Auto Collision Experts. He does excellent work, has had several trucks in magazines that he painted.
As for how long it will be there, I learned a long time ago not to get a "date" from the body shop, lol. Hopefully by end of year. I am not in a big hurry. I think I decided on going with a pearl white on top, then a blue on bottom, He wants to do some kind of graphics, I said ok, but nothing crazy, I'm not into that. He had a Hyabusa in his shop he just did with white pearl and red, after seeing that, I was totally sold, it looked slick. We went over tons of color books and I gave him a few choices of blues, all were pretty close matches. Anyway, we had a good time, went down to schlitterbahn in galveston, our kids had a blast, I have 3 he has 5! It was like a school field trip anywhere we went.
His chihuahua had puppies and my kids would not let me leave without one for them...I guess that is a small price to pay, huh?
I am going to keep my mind off my truck for awhile and maybe get my garaged cleaned up a bit. I'll post some pics if he sends any..I am ditching the side mirrors and getting the holes in bed rails/stake pockets shaved. Think it looks better smooth.
Updates to come!
