Gear ratio chart/calculator?

Does anyone know of a good calculator or chart, or formula, to figure out what rear end I want to have in the truck? Finally test drove with the new 4 speed trans last night, in second by the time I cross the intersection, running high RPM's at 45-50.

I have a 3.73 now, dunno if I need to go to a 3.43 or 3.08 to get where I want, and trial and error would be expensive.

Was looking for one myself awhile back, and found this one.

I was getting some pretty funky results from this one, at one point it told me 4.79...

Thanks to you both! Now I just have to decide if I'm brave enough to do it, or if I want to pay someone... (I do have all the needed equipment, I've just not done one before).

Re: Gear ration chart/calculator?

I just remembered I saved a few I found on one of my sites.

Feel free to use any of these.

Look under Calculators.
