Need help with autometer gauge

I once again turn to your guys for help.
We were trying to install a autometer fuel level gauge in my buddys 95 chevy truck. Tryed chasing the wires and hooking it up to what was suppose to be the wire going to the gauge. It doesnt work. Is there some kinda trick? There are two wires coming off of the sender, which one goes where?

One wire will be the ground and one is the feed that goes to the fuse box I believe. I connected mine to the wire before it gets to the fuse box. Thats on an older truck.
