small rear window

i am not hardly ever on the 73-87 board i hang out on the 60-66 board and the 88-98 boards most of the time.i have always wondered what a 73-87 c 50 or c 60 truck cab would look like transplanted on to a half ton pickup from the same era.thought about that 20 years ago when i had my small window 66.if anybody has done this post your pics of it.i think it would look cool on a short fleet 73-87 truck.

Re: small rear window

the cabs are different as the floor in a pickup has a hump and tunnel for the trans and on the larger trucks you would have none of this... as you can see from the pic of a large cab and you can see some in my pickup

Re: small rear window

how about splicing the inner and outer back cab panels onto the pickup.i still think this would look cool and maybe someone will build one of these.maybe it will start a new trend huh!

Re: small rear window

the only thing is there is no advantage to doing this except for looks...the larger rear window is better for visibility .. there was one guy on here who was refurbishing his dads truck and he did a floor swap which was a ton of work but he did that because the floor pans, rockers, mounts , and cab corners rot on this genre truck

Re: small rear window

yes it would be just for looks could not see out of the rear as good, but i still think it would look good with the square design of the body.you could also tranplant the hump from a half ton pickup too.that would probably be less work than changing back cab panels.after me posting this maybe someone will try it.who knows?sure would be different though.

Re: small rear window

If I'm not mistaken it was Thom Taylor that did a rendering for one of the truck mags. It had a small window grafted in and used a rear bumper with no license plate cut out. The plate was mounted on the tailgate like a stationwagon.

Did it look cool? Not in my opinion. but I am rather biased. I have never cared for small window trucks no matter what generation they are.

Re: small rear window

i guess you could jsut graft the rear window in (look at dv8customs build pics for the chop top) but it would be alot of work and not much gain... although on a chop top it might look cool/different
