How to Adjust Shifter linkage?
hey guys....how do i adjust the shifter linkage on a 1996 column shift S10....it real tough to shift it all the way down into drive and the lever pulls down almost all the way before it reaches drive...runs out of room to shift before it reaches 2 or 3...think it is because my linkage is a little crazy off and may be too loose since I just recently installed another steering column... help?

Re: How to Adjust Shifter linkage?
disconnect linkage from tranny arm, place column lever in "N", have buddy hold it there against the "D" stop, install linkage to tranny, test.

Re: How to Adjust Shifter linkage?
place the tranny in N as well. start at park (on tranny) and rotate until it notches to N. easy way to tell P is that the distance from P to R is wider than any others. like this
P--R-N-D-3-2-1 have buddy hold lever down against the N stop (but not letting it drop into D) just remembered, P is all the way forward at the tranny arm. Last edited by 68C15; 03-11-2010 at 02:39 PM. |
