4.3 swap to a (1965) 396ci
Hello, I have a question for any of you gearheads out there...I am swaping the engine in a 1985 C10 2WD....it currently has the original 4.3 V-6 / TH400 and I will be replacing the 4.3 with a 1965 396ci BigBlock and keeping the original TH400. My question is this: will the motor mounts / brackets interchange or do I need to purchase different mounts / brackets to make this work?

Um, a 4.3 with an original th400 behind it? Are you sure? As far as I know only 3/4 tons (and not all of them) and 1 tons got the th400.

Re: 4.3 swap to a (1965) 396ci
if ita original the 4.3 has a werid mount set up but the 350 brakets bolt right to it so if the 396 has the same brackets the mounts will bolt to the stands and the engine will drop in the bell housing is the same and the distance should be the same i had a smialar expreiance in swaping a 4,3 in place of a 250 and i used all 350 small block stuff just remeber if it fits a 350 small block it will almost always fit the 43 its just a 350 with 2 cyls cut off same bore and stroke and outside deminisons just shorter your fan shroud wont work tho

Yes the trans is a TH400 according to the shape of the pan and location of the modulator valve. I was actually suprised by this as well when I purchased the truck....It is all original equipment, and has factory heavy duty sway bar linked to both front control arms. I have been told by several people that the mounts and brackets will interchange but I wont be convinced until I get the thing bolted up....Thanks for the input.
