Barn Door Conversion Question????
Guys,
I'm converting from hatch and tailgate to barn doors on my 72 burb and it looks like there is no access to get any nuts and washers in to bolt down the upper door strike, rubber bumpers, and door sliders/checks. What have you guys done? Sheet metal screws? Do you think the screws are going to hold everything tight? Thanks, Kevin |

Re: Barn Door Conversion Question????
That's what I would do. You might want to do a test hole and see if the required plate is already there. You might get by with just drilling and tapping the correct size of hole....

Re: Barn Door Conversion Question????
Perhaps you could collect a couple more of the round plastic plugs that are common in the rear gate. Drill the holes for the strikeplate. Then drill a hole on the inside over each strikeplate location hole and slip the nuts in through the hole and tighten them up. Then put the plugs in the hole. I cut a slot in the strikeplate location and then filled the holes.
