Question Rams horn manifold question

Do the factory Rams Horn manifolds come in different sizes? How well do they flow? I've seen them called "Rams horn Headers", but they all look about the same. My engine is a little warmer than stock, so I don't need super hi flow headers. Actually, I'm beginning to think the lack of back pressure in my system (shorty headers into 2 1/2 inch tube and mini turbo muffs) is causing the hesitation I have.
Reason I ask is I can get a pair for next to nothing, and as another board member said, it does away with the constant gasket failure on a header setup. Cnut

Re: Rams horn manifold question

Rams horn exhaust manifolds come in 2" and 2 1/2" sizes. They probably will not flow as well as your headers.

I agree that the 2 1/2" Rams Horns won't flow as good as headers but didn't they come stock on the high performance corvettes?

Re: Rams horn manifold question

I thought the Vette ram horn and truck ram horn were different. The Vette ones are the better flowing ones. The truck ones with the kink at the bottom are the more restrictive ones. Not sure how the truck ones that are not kinked compare to the Vette ones.

Re: Rams horn manifold question

Thanks for the info. I'm going to measure them before I buy them. I think they're the 2" though, and wouldn't do what I want. Thanks again, Cnut

Yes. Dunno how they might differ from any other rams horns... Both my '65 Corvette (327/365, same as fuelly but carbureted) and my '66 327/350 (highest output on hydraulic lifters) had factory rams horns.

Sure wish I still owned those cars...

The Corvette type Ramhorns w/ 2 1/2 in. outlets are reproduced now & are not expensive.

Re: Rams horn manifold question

If anyone is interested.
Speedway Motors sells a 2- 1/2" Corvette Style exhaust manifold for $59.95 each.
These were patterned off of the early 60's 327 Corvette
If someone knows of a better price maybe they will post up here?
