auto 350 doesn't want to shift into park
OK, so I took the truck out for the first time this weekend. The audiosonic plus transparent muffler I installed last year still sounds as great as ever!
![]() But the shift lever is really sticky, like there is a stop for it that has somehow been adjusted to be in the way. I have to really yank hard on it to get it from park to any drive gear. going back into park is even worse. Any suggestions?

Make sure that the trans is in park. Set the brake. Loosed the adjustment nut at the linkage. Put the shifter in park, tighten nut. Test drive

Re: auto 350 doesn't want to shift into park
My column is the same way, It is terribly hard to pull the lever back to get it into and out of park. There is a little notch right outside the firewall that I guess is to keep you from just going into park without pulling the lever. I have sprayed the area down several times with penetrating oil, and I can move it now, but I guess it all needs to come apart.

Re: auto 350 doesn't want to shift into park
spraying the crap out of the lever and all moving parts in the column and linkage to clean and lubricate things is a nice thing to do to 40year old moving parts
