350ci build help

ok guys I have decided that im going to build a 350ci motor with 500hp!! any ideas or any builds anyone have already done would be helpful and any opions on a 350ci having that much horse power!! thanks in advance

Street or play? How much money do you have? N/A or forced induction?

a 500 hp small block is easy street.... thats all i have ever run is small blocks. what do you want to know? do you want a power adder or a NA set up? street friendly? i have a 388ci small block, dart pro 1 heads, victor jr. intake port matched epoxied and milled, im on the bottle though. roller cam. i have less then 6g's in the entire engine. i also have some of the best parts you can buy wich you dont really need sometimes. a good budget short block would be a factory gm 4bolt main block, eagle makes a pre balanced full rotating assembaly great deal. its cast crank, forged rods, forged pistons, bearings rings all for 1000.00 dollars. you could go with a relatively cheap head as well.

With those few inches I would think it would take a pretty good head to make those numbers N/A.

its going to be used on weekends only mainly in the mudd I have 8grand saved up so far no forced induction

If you've got 8 grand, you can build a 500hp BBC and have plenty of money left over, and way more torque than a 350. Not to mention a 500hp BBC won't be stressed near as hard as a 500hp 350.

But, if you're building a 350 and that's the end all for you and you've got 8 g's, then I'd get an all forged bottom end, AFR or Brodix heads and a stout roller cam. Or you can go the easy route and just buy a 500hp crate motor, and save yourself the trouble. You can find 500hp small block builds all over the internet try www.ChevyHiperformance.com, www.carcraft.com, www.superchevy.com - there is TONS of info out there.

dont get me wrong you cant do it with a set of double humps or vortech castings, but a decent set of iron eagles would meet the demands i have had good luck with small blocks, allways thought about a big block but they are so much more exspensive then a small block. my new small block makes 613hp on the motor. i have some cash in it but most of the money is in the short block to make sure it holds the spray. sometimes bigger is not allways better IMO, things to take into account are reciprocating weight, and the ability to fill the cylinder as fast as you can and discharge as fast as you can with any engine. but with a small block your volumetric efficiceny is higher then a standard big block. less space to fill yes, but it allows you to dump your spent mixtures in order to get the next cycle in. im not doubting the reliability or power potential of a big block at all. they are proven in power but my personal experiences have proven that making 500hp is relatively easily done with a small block. you start cracking 600 and the bank account takes a blow.
