i know the dodge ram srt-10 (viper package) could do 0-60 in 5 seconds flat with 500hp and a 6 speed. if you are doing 50 in 7, then 60 comes in at well under 10 seconds.....that beats most base trim economy cars. even the late 80's shelby daytona with the T2 intercooled engine and 5spd couldn't get under 7 at 60mph (they go very fast now with mods). i think the delorean and early miata cranked 60 in like 8.5, so you have them in your sights!

200 is a pretty good estimate. At 4200lbs, auto trans, and 200hp, you're looking at a 0-60 around 8.8 seconds. 250hp brings that down to 7.5 seconds.
I use 4200#'s as that's what my 71 2wd long box weights will me and maybe half a tank. There are lots out there but here is a 0-60 estimator that I use on occasion. http://www.060calculator.com/ |

Looks like it would average around 177hp for a 4000lb truck. Of course to know instantaneous hp you need a dyno. I'm sure it was more than 177 near the end.

depends on how good your traction is....
If your on street tires you will need more power. If you want to use street slicks you can get away with less power. Don't forget to look at the big picture and what you want to use the truck for.

There is a program called Drag2003 that will let you choose all your gear ratios, tires, tranny, engine with hp curves, etc and figure it out. With my 405hp/441ft-lb 383, TH350 with a 3.08 rear end my truck will supposedly hit 60 in 6.078 seconds and the quarter in 14.638 at 102.4mph...I have yet to finish the work on it and verify this, but in the next few months I hope to!..
