What is our dash made out of???

EDIT** The gauge cluster not dash......

I tried Plastic Welding some custom gauges to the back of my gauge cluster but they seem to keep breaking off, and the only thing on the back of the package that it wont bond to is # Polypropylene plastic & Polyethylene plastic is this either of those?
This stuff is 10,000 PSI strength

I'm pretty sure it's ABS plastic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acrylon...adiene_styrene
Maybe epoxy will work?

Nope, ABS is not pourous enough to give epoxy any tooth but if you go to Home Depot or any hardware store and buy ABS plumbers glue (for black plastic pipe) it will do the trick. Just remember, this is a solvent cement...it dissolves the ABS then when the volatile solvent evaporates it allows it to solidify back into the original plastic. In short that means it's a permanent bond and you do not want to get it on anything you don't want melted together.

Re: What is our dash made out of???

Using a solvent cement will work if both plastics are bondible, or will melt with the same solvent. Example PVC (Polyvinyl chloride), ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) are 2 chemiclay different compounds based on 2 seperate base materials. (one chlorine based and the other styrene based) This is why both examples that I gave have different adheisives. Solvent base adheisives actualy work by melting the materials that are to be bonded and the twisting of the materials together actualy mixes the two surfaces together and making them one. This is why glues that stick to surfaces are better for adhearing two different types of plastic. WES

Re: What is our dash made out of???

This will work.
Does not hurt to rough it up some to.I worked for Rohm and Haas (Plexiglass) and GE ( lexan) and other companies making plastic. Their are other brands of solvent, many of them that will work.

I forgot to mention that MEKP is what works with ABS plastic and acrylic. Be aware that it's really bad for your health but you can get it at any hardware store.
