Accelorator rod

I am swapping a 350 in place of my 250.

I have seen the accelorator rod for 6cyl in catologs, but no v8, how different are they? can I make the 6cyl work?

Not sure if a 6 cylinder one will work, but the Truck and Car Shop has them for V8's.

Re: Accelorator rod

I always weld them longer using a length of rod. If you don't have any 1/4 inch rod you can buy it at any hardware store.

Re: Accelorator rod

No way, you can lengthen the existing rod in about 5 minutes with a three dollar piece of round rod. Why buy a 71-72 pedal assembly and cable and carb bracket than modify your cab ?

Re: Accelorator rod

In case of a broken motor mount the cable is safer, that's why they went to the cable. Only reason I did it.

Re: Accelorator rod

Tx...I understand your point, but have you seen the adapter plate 'Rckcrln' makes (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=371099)...you no longer have to mod the cab...'sinister' has installed his already...I've been lazy and haven't installed mine yet....either way...just a suggestion to to the OP

Re: Accelorator rod

Sure, to each his own. I have seen the bracket and it is nice. Personally, if I can modify something in a few minutes and don't need to spend any money or round up parts somewhere that's the way I go. The bracket, a pedal assembly, a cable, and a carburetor bracket, oh, and the little ball stud on the carburetor for the cable to clip on to is a lot of stuff to round up.

I do understand the safety aspect of a cable. It's not too much of a concern for me.

Re: Accelorator rod

Installing brand new motor and trans mounts in mine as well.

Prefer to keep it stock looking, and being my daily driver, the less mods I have to do on this engine swap the better.

Thanks for the info guys.
