Heads-up on some Edelbrock TES headers
FYI: Saw these Edelbrock TES headers for 81-87 trucks on ebay.

Chris,
not sure what the difference is, but the headers in the auction are 6827's, made for 2wd's. These are the exact ones on my truck. For your Blazer, Edelbrock calls for 6863's. Just a FYI. Also, the 6827's are a $350.00 set of headers. Good luck with the auction.

If they can shave a 1 second from 0-60 then BADBOW can do low 16's and maybe even high 15's with them headers. :p All on a measly 305!!

In terms of the difference between 2wd headers and 4wd headers -- remember that 4wd trucks have the engine mounted a couple of inches further aft. This might cause interference problems with standard headers?

No problem. I thought when I seen you say you were bidding on them, you didn't know they were for 2wd only. Not trying to be a know it all, but this I did know for sure, being as I have them on my truck. Also, they are not only for 2wd's, but not for Blazers either. I think 4wd pickups use 6828's.
I hope someone here gets them at a good price. Edelbrock seems to like these things rather well. But, they are a well built set of emission headers. I've never had a problem with any leaks, never. Mike |

I hope I can get them at a good deal. This would really help me get the exhuast stuff going. Once I have the headers (w/ coating) then it shouldnt be long till I have it all.

I will let you guys know at the end. I have to decide how much I want to pay. Hey Mike, is there anything that may be missing from his kit? Maybe something small? I plan to buy different gaskets and bolts eitherway so Im not concerned about that. But I do not know what it should include so Im hoping maybe you can point something out maybe Im missing. Besides the headers and y-pipe, what else should it come with that I need? Anything special/little parts for the air system? Is it supposed to come with the check valves or are those not included if I bought new? I assume they are not included, but you never know I guess. Thanks. Edit: Anyone else notice the blur on the y-pipe (near the end)? Does that look like he is trying to cover something up? I sent him a message, Ill see what he says. Figured I'd see what you guys think.

Eddie,
by looking at the pic, it's hard to tell if every piece is there, but it looks like it. There is of course the headers and y-pipe pieces, which are there. In the pack of parts, there should be header gaskets (which are good gaskets, btw. I wouldn't buy new ones), header bolts, donut gasket for the drivers side y-pipe to header mount, flange gasket for passenger side y-pipe to header mounts, bolts to fasten the y-pipe to the headers, and clamps. If the pack hasn't been opened, it all should be there. I have part numbers for replacement donut gaskets and flange gaskets if needed. You use your old check valves. They come off your old stock exhaust pretty easy. I see the blur you are talking about. I think it's just a glare in the pic from the plastic in the pack laying beside it. There's not a lot in that area to mess up. Of course it's whre the two pipes are coming together, but I think its fine. One thing I would do if I were you and you do end up getting them. Don't use the reducer pipe. This reduces it from a 3" outlet on the y-pipe, down to the stock exhaut size of 2-1/4". I would do as I did and have the exhaust shop make you new pieces to attach from the y-pipe 3" part to a 3" in/out cat. A lot better flow here. Why restrict a already somewhat restricted exhaust, down to a 2-1/4" cat? Edit. Oh, yeah, it comes with a AC bracket type thing. It don't work though. It's the generic piece I'm sure everyone has seen before. I modified my stock bracket to work with the PS pump. Mike Last edited by swervin ervin; 05-10-2003 at 03:59 PM. |
