another one from Missoula

just picked up this 85 LWB Sierra last week, and have of course gone in search of a forum related to my new toy. this isn't my first Chevy truck, but i have noticed a few differences between this one and the others i have owned, which were all older.
this one looks like at one time someone started the process of building it back up. in place of the stock 305 and OD auto tranny, there is a Goodwrench 350 with Edelbrock Performer and 4bbl in front of a turbo 350, and there is some of the POs' documentation for its existence over the years. unfortunately, when i bought it, it had not been serviced in a while, had mismatched tires, and was in a general state of neglect.
i just spent the weekend adding a set of Cooper Cobra 255/70-15s, changed the fluids, air cleaner, cleaned up the engine compartment, removed some "beat-up" running boards, and tried to bring back some life to the stock dark blue paint. i ordered some new tail lights and a new grille, and will be hunting down some front marker lights and a good indian blanket seat cover....you know, the kind with the handy pockets in front.
i also have a dual exhaust and header set i got from Summit i need to install, and i eventually intend to remove all of the AC stuff and anything else i have no need for. simple is always better in my book. and the simpler the engine compartment is, the better i like it.

this will make a good complement to my OTHER chevy truck
