Old drivetrain 216 / 3-speed what to keep?

The 216 engine and 3 speed on the column drivetrain was strewn about the cab and bed of my truck after an apparent disassembly some 20 years ago. I have no plans to resurrect it and limited room to store parts but I also don't want to throw away something valuable. Right now everything is going to scrap except for the trans, bellhousing, intake/carb, oil bath air cleaner, radiator and 2 coffee cans of nuts, bolts and odd small pieces.

The block, head, covers, clutch/flywheel/pressure plate, rear end, starter, generator, water pump, fan and pretty much anything else not listed above are doomed.

Thoughts?

Re: Old drivetrain 216 / 3-speed what to keep?

I put an ad in the D/FW Craig's List to rid myself of my engine and transmission so I could make room for a late model TBI SB and an R700 transmission. After only a few minutes of air time I got a call from a guy who wanted desperately to come see them. He did, liked what he saw (complete engine/transmission though not running) and asked what I'd take for them. I asked him what he thought they were worth and he said he'd give me $300 for the whole setup (included all the engine accessories, valve cover, air cleaner, etc.). I told him he could have it free; just get them out of my garage. With that he hooked me up with a guy wanting to get rid of a Chevy 350 if someone would haul it away.

Point is, there are people out there who'll pay for this stuff and there are others who can hook you up with things you might need. Offer the stuff for sale or trade. Go fishing and see who's out there.

Thanks for the encouragement, I just put an ad on CL. I have a tendency to throw away things hastily sometimes. I'll give it a week or two.

The block is a hard sell if its good so I normally scrap them. The head if its good can go for $75 - 100, The covers $25, flywheel $25, rear end scrap, starter $20 as core $50 if it works, generator $20 as core and $50 if it works, water pump scrap, fan $15 - 25,
Sell them on craigslist or ebay
