Re: Long Project: Orange Julius

Well the other day, Bonspeed introduced some new styles for 2012 and it has me rethinking my wheel choice... They are both very similar, but have their differences.
for one, the "window" on the bonspeeds is a little more defined and I can also the them brushed instead of the matte finish.

What do you guys think?

Intro Speedstar

VS.

Bonspeed Detroit

Re: Long Project: Orange Julius

They are both very similar, and it may come down the finish you want to run, but based on the 2 pics, I prefer the Intros...only because the spokes are a little slimmer and gives the illusion the wheel is bigger. From the pics you posted, it looks like the Into is a 20" wheel, but the Bonspeeds are 15"s. That really could be the case too, but either way, you can't go wrong because both are awesome wheels.

Bonspeed Detroits!!! They look deeper to me, giving the wheel more definition.

Re: Long Project: Orange Julius

They still havent emailed me back. Im trying to see if they will make them in a "stepped lip". The Intros have an option for that, and I think it would be cool to have the retro look of a stepped lip on such a modern wheel. Kind of the look Im going for...

Re: Long Project: Orange Julius

If not then go with the intros since they are so close, and we know you like 'em! I'm worried when I upgrade to disc brakes in the front I'm gonna have to lose my vintage AR turbines.

Re: Long Project: Orange Julius

Well from what I understand, it will push the wheels/tires out from the fenderwells. I hope not too much as I want to keep it 6 lug and want to run these wheels. Maybe I'll ask around and find out more about it.

Re: Long Project: Orange Julius

Hmmm, interesting. I wish I could help you out on that but I have no idea...

On the other hand, I talked to Perry over at PTS wheels and I guess that Intro does do an option for brushed insets. I think I will be going with the Intros, as Perry has been more than happy to put up with my tons of questions and he definitely deserves my business.

I just need to get home and do some measurements... :/

Both are very nice wheels. I've always enjoyed my conversations with Bonspeed. Can't say I have ever talked to Intro. Good luck

I have talked to the same guy from Intro multiple times at shows(knowingly him not remembering me) and he was actually pretty short with me... I tend to get that alot at shows when Im talking to vendors. Im not sure if they see me as a very young guy who seems like Im wishing big, or whatever. Thankfully I met Perry at PTS and he has been nothing but friendly and helpful with regards to my Intro order and that pretty much revived my faith in those wheels.

So the wheels Im going to order are;

Front- 18x8 (havent decided on BS-Id like some thoughts on this)

Rear- 20x9.5 4.5" BS

I really want to order these, but Im kinda in decision for the front backspacing...
Patience my friend!

Most guys on here run 20x8.5 on the front with 5.25"-5.5" backspacing. So I would think with an 18x8 wheel you would be safe with around 4.5"-5" backspacing, especially since your bagged. What size are your current Rally wheels. If they are 15x8 they probably have 4" backspacing, so 4.5" to 5" backspacing would suck the wheels in more than your current setup. Good luck.

Re: Long Project: Orange Julius

Sounds good! I like the different size look. Don't know what to tell you about the front backspacing. My thought would be to find someone who has similar setup and similar rims.
