Anybody running a 5.5/7 drop on a 67-72?
Just finished building my 70 chevy swb about 6 months ago and like always I've decided to change it up a bit. Right now it has a 2.5/3 drop with 245/45/20 up front and 275/40/20 on the rear. That's the best estimate I have anyways since I heated the coils due to funds. Just ordered the cpp drop/tuck spindles and 3" coils for the front and 5" coils for the back. Still gotta order the 2" block kit for the rear too. Is anyone running a drop like that with a 28" tall tire or something close to it. I had the wheels built to tuck enough for clearance with a drop, but I'm thinking I'm going to have to go with a shorter tire. Just wondering if anybody else had any experience with the same issues. Or any other that I haven't thought of. This one was my first older build. All the others have been late models and bags. Thanks for looking. Any feedback or suggestions is appreciated.

Re: Anybody running a 5.5/7 drop on a 67-72?
The 245-45-20 is almost 29" tall (@ 28.68"). You're going to need to get something shorter. 245 or 255-40's would be about max w/o buzzing the inner fender wells.
Also, from those pics.... the back-spacing doesn't look very deep. What size wheels & back-spacing do you have?

Going to have to run a short tire on a 20 inorder to run them on a 5.5/7" drop; or have spot on BS on a custom set of wheels. I think they will hit either the fender or the inner fender.

Im running a 4.5/7 drop with a 245/40-20 and 295/40-20 tires. The front can be lowered a bit more to 5.5 with this set up but nothing taller on the tire.

Re: Anybody running a 5.5/7 drop on a 67-72?
Alright thanks. The fronts are 20x8 with 3 1/2 bs. Rears are 20x9.5 with 4 1/2 bs. Thought the front would probably be an issue. May have to roll the bedsides for the rear. Guess I'll just change the tires out. Be cheaper than buyin new wheels. Good lookin trucks guys. Thanks for the quick response.

Yeah I know what ya mean. I told you guys wrong earlier. It's a 5" bs on the rear and a 4.5 bs on the front. Least that's what's on the order form I have from when I bought them. Sorry bout that.

also the cpp spindles are supposed to give another 1/2" to each side up front.

Bet that looks good man. These trucks look good with the rally wheels. Your tires are pretty close to the same height as mine. Only thing that will get me is the width.

Re: Anybody running a 5.5/7 drop on a 67-72?
yeah, plus I have the regular 2.5" drop spindles, so my front track width is wider. Havent had the bed on yet (since suspension work) so I don't know exactly how it sits yet. Looks pretty good so far though! lol

well by seeing the front view of it right there it looks right at home on the ground. I like it. Post some pics when you get the bed on.
