Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

Ok, guys,

A little redneck machining aka a grinder and they slid right on!! Looks like the fronts are solved, now onto the rears.

Before and after, you only have to take a little off, not much.

Havent tried the new revised center cap yet but will let you know in a few.

Leviticus, is that with 1 1/2 rotor with 2 7/8 diameter?
What version is that? -2AA
What wheel is it for the 18s or the 20s?
If it is 20, will it be same mod for 18s?

Those are the revised 20s (-3-AA part #) as shown in his thread here. His hub seems to have been significantly thicker than those on my stock 1.25" rotors. (The measurements from my digital caliper are posted elsewhere in this thread.) No idea why his would have been different, but there ya have it. Measure before ordering because YMMV.

As I said in response to your PM, the 18s will require significant machine work on the hubs to make them fit as documented in the other thread. Leviticus just hit his with a grinder to knock down a bit on the edge. For some reason his hubs were apparently a lot thicker than mine, specs for which are posted elsewhere in this thread.

Just very irritating that after all the hype and all the wait we STILL have to grind the hubs or use spacers. I don't get it. If everyone is happy to grind away, why didn't y'all do it six months ago instead of waiting for the revised rims?

It appears the grinding now is very minimal and something that most anyone with a cheap grinder could accomplish. Before it looked to be something you had to take to a machine shop to have a good amount of material removed.

That being said, BOSS really shot themselves in the foot with this one. The good news is it will keep the number of trucks running these down somewhat so you won't have as many people with the same rims....

I wish they would/could get it right with the 6 lug 330's for my 69, I would be a definite customer...

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

I am assumming I would need to get my new front rotors cut for the bore size like all the others, no?

I was also told by a local dealer the offset/bs is wrong for my truck and I would need some large spacers(especially in the rear) that wouldn't be smart to install...

Are they wrong?
