there should be no problems with having a "air Ride" suspension the state laws start to come into affect when you drive and opperate valves is pretty much illegal all over. some states you are not alowwed to lay frame while parked. but i agreed your going to have to look it up. maybe soeone here is from pa could help

Re: bags legal or illega

most car makers have at least one model with air ride suspension. practically all big trucks ride on air. go for it.

But "air ride" on stock cars and big trucks don't lower the vehicle enough to tuck tires and lay frame... they are for ride quality only...

Re: bags legal or illegal?

only answer is to look it up for your specific state. i think most states just have a problem with moving it up or down while the truck is in motion. i would do it anyways, but thats just me

Re: bags legal or illegal?

I can't vouch for PA's law (notoriously strict from what I hear), but here in Texas if someone brought me one to inspect, I wouldn't pass it if there were no safety snubbers in place to keep the vehicle from sinking below scrub line in the event of a failure. In Texas it isn't strictly spelled out that way so I'd surely piss the owner off, but safe is safe.

I'd make the owner fully deflate the system to check how low it went. If something hit the ground or fouled a tire, no sticker from me.

air ride on our trucks do not necessarily mean laying frame. i have seen a few stock Lincolns with bad bags that got real close to laying frame. i think the better question that "some" states will require is the minimum ground clearance issue.

Better to double check with the state DOT.
