WTB 72 SBC 1/2 ton Ram horn manifolds

I believe that the factory SBC ram horn manifolds for a 72 1/2 ton 2wd truck angle to the back, not drop straight down (?) This is what I am looking for. Trying to find something cheaper than the $100+/ pair for repros.

Not sure if both angle back on a stock set up or not... The engine I am using is a mid 80's and came out of a 71 4x4 and had a set of ram horn's with a stright drop. It seems to me that there would be more restriction with a straight set, since the exhaust pipe will have to have a 90 degree bend.

Re: WTB 72 SBC 1/2 ton Ram horn manifolds

They look good. How well does paint hold up on these? I usually run them w/ out paint... I think I saw that Eastwood or someone similar had some sort of coating for cast rion manifolds that could be rubbed on the keep them from rusting and looking so nasty...How much to just media blast and ship to Leander TX 78641?

Not trying to change your plans but those manifolds without the kink are the more desirable better flowing ones. The ones with the kink are the correct for you 72 though.

Re: WTB 72 SBC 1/2 ton Ram horn manifolds

My dad has used the Eastwood stuff on a few manifolds, it needs recoating every few years but it looks good and does prevent rust, does not flake off or have any silly behavior. Applying it with a disposable foam brush seems to work best and you don't have to feel bad about not being able to reuse a brush for anything else.

I'm not sure if protocol allows me to ask, but if neither of you wants those spark plug shields I'll take at least one of the "humped" ones (with the hole for the water temp sensor). the resto places make a set of 4 flat one but not those and it looks like you have two on that engine, sounds like Jimmy you're trying to get rid of the whole thing...if this line of conversation should be moved to a whole new thread I'll be happy to comply.

68lowburb, Does the engine you are pulling the manifolds off of happen to have a timing pointer that is compatible with a 6-3/4" diameter balancer?

Here is what I have. PICS did not come out the best because of the sunlight.
Very nice set. Replaced one stud that was missing. No cracks or damage of any kind.
